WHAT HAPPENS WITH THE BIKES YOU DONATE?

Most of the bicycles we receive are repaired and distributed through different programs our charity supports. Of course most of us are aware of the Christmas bicycle giveaway.

We also receive requests from different organizations seeking bicycles:

  • Social workers from Catholic Charities
  • School teachers using bicycles as incentives for students
  • Law enforcement officers helping children and families who could benefit from donated bicycles.

A small percentage of bicycles are sold or traded to bicycle shops for new tubes, tires, brake cables and other bicycle parts. The funds we raise are applied to operational costs such as the trucks that we use to transport bicycles, fuel expenses, insurance and our community outreach mobile repair trailer that we offer to repair bicycles free of charge in poor neighborhoods. Of the thousands of bikes we repair and donate to our community, fewer than 100 bicycles are traded or sold.
